Details (inputs, outputs, assumptions) Read once

Inputs

  • Best use: make sure your browser supports WebGL/Three.js by going to https://get.webgl.org
  • Geometry / masses: chassis and cab/cargo dimensions and weights
  • Wheels / suspension: axle locations and front and rear suspension K and C values
  • Tires: effective vertical stiffness
  • Obstruction: obstruction size, strength and vehicle speed
  • Helpful hint: the model and results can be saved to a JSON file for future use

Outputs

  • Initial Conditions: the initial accelerations are from a small vehicle drop to initiate the solution
  • Accelerations: vehicle CG response to the obstruction
  • Axis Directions: x=vehicle side to side; y=vehicle travel direction; z=vehicle vertical direction
  • Time histories: compare obstruction and vehicle conditions
  • Visualization: response animation

Assumptions

  • Simplified 3D dynamics
  • Linearized elements
  • Use for sensitivity and early-stage decision support

Examples
