Bolts and Bolted Joints
Browser-based tools for determining bolt loads, preloads bolted joint parameters.
Tip: Use these modules for preliminary sizing and parametric comparisons. For final designs, validate with detailed analysis and test.
Documentation PDFs describe the implemented assumptions and correlations.
Bolts
Bolt torque and preload.
Bolt preload is determined from torque and friction factors given by the user and compared against bolt strengths.
Bolt torque and friction factors are given for a selected bolt.
The bolt preload is then calculated.
Outputs: The preload is then compared to the bolt strengths.

Bolts
Bolted Joints
The minimum sized bolt is determined for a preloaded bolted joint with a given external load without separation.
The user selects the bolt type and grade.
Joint materials and dimensions are user defined including washers and clamped members.
The user can check a specific bolt size for separation and bolt stressing or have the module determine the minimum sized bolt needed to prevent separation while maintaining strength requirements.
The joint graphic is drawn to scale.
These modules are intended for preliminary sizing and trade studies.
