Static Euler beam with a web browser interface. Up to 10 beam segments can be used with each having their own segment properties of L, E, A I, wd, St, Sb, qL and qR.
Each node separating the segments can be fixed, simply supported or free. They can also have a concentrated vertical load, moment, vertical spring and/or torsional spring.
The bending stress is simply the moment divided by the segment section modulus, S. It is assumed for this version that beam is symmetrical top to bottom.
Any consistent set of units can be used. Such as inches, lbs. and radians.
Click a segment to edit E, I, A, L, St, Sb, qL, qR, wd.
Segments shade from light (no self-weight) to dark (heavier self-weight).
Click a node (blue dot) to edit BC / F / M / springs / pin joint / prescribed w, θ.
Sign convention: +F up (−F down) deflection + is up stresses plotted with tension positive.
