Rubber Sandwich Molding Shrinkage

This module will determine the molding shrinkage for rubber pads. Cylindrical, conical and curved conicals can be modeled with user input ID, OD, height, and ID and OD edge contours. The top and bottom surfaces can be bonded to rigid members or free. A shear strain and resultant (rz) plots are also given. The solution uses the difference in molding and room temperatures.

Model summary

Inputs: Sandwich general configuration and geometry details of ID, OD, height, and edge contours,. Material properties and molding temperature.
Inputs: Material properties of shear modulus and thermal coefficient of expansion. Molding temperature and room temperature.
Inputs: Fixed or free surfaces.
Outputs: Molded shape and molded-in shear strains.
Hint: The configuration and results can be saved to a JSON file for future use.
Use case: quick what-ifs, sensitivity, and early sizing.
