Rubber Sandwich Small Displacement Compression

This module will estimate the small displacement (1 - 5%) compression stiffness for rubber pads using a linear FEA method with nearly incompressible materials. Cylindrical, conical and curved conicals can be modeled with user input ID, OD, height, and edge/side contours. The top and bottom surfaces can be bonded to rigid members or free. A deformed plot with the rz shear stain plots is also given.

Model summary

Inputs: Sandwich general configuration and geometry details of OD, ID and height. Material properties and compression value.
Inputs: Material properties of shear modulus and bulk modulus.
Inputs: FEA mesh details and surface boundary conditions.
Inputs: Applied compression value.
Outputs: Compression stiffness, shape and shear strains.
Helpful hint: A configuration and results can be saved to a JSON file for future use.
Use case: quick what-ifs, sensitivity, and early sizing.
